Nova Scotia MLA for Preston-Dartmouth, Keith is currently Nova Scotia’s Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture and Minister of Agriculture, as well as the Minister responsible for the Maritime Provinces Harness Racing Commission.

Keith grew up in Dartmouth and lives in Porters Lake with his wife Elizabeth and their black lab Shelby. He is a family man and the father of Aaron and Lisa as well as the proud grandfather of Amber and Jacob.

Keith, in his role of MLA, is focused on meeting the needs of the people in his diverse constituency. He is available to the residents by visit, phone and email. Keith always responds to any call or email and he takes pride in helping people, and has many testimonies to that fact from area residents.

The greatest testimony to Keith’s efforts on behalf of the people is his repeated reelection. He was elected as MLA for the Eastern Shore in 1993 and re-elected in 1998. He held the portfolio as Fisheries and Aquaculture Minister as well as Consumer Service, (now known as Service Nova Scotia). He was first elected in 2003 as MLA for the Preston constituency and re-elected in 2006 and 2009. He was re-elected in 2013 to the newly formed Preston-Dartmouth Constituency. He also served for four years as Municipal Councillor for District 3 in the Halifax Regional Municipality, first elected in 1999 and acclaimed in 2000.

Keith, prior to entering politics owned and operated a successful manufacturing company for 18 years which is an important factor in his success working with industry in his role as cabinet minister. He has contributed significantly to growing the Nova Scotia economy through his work with the men and women in Agriculture and Fisheries/Aquaculture. Keith through his support of these important industries has contributed to greatly increasing exports and creating good jobs in rural Nova Scotia.

Keith also maintains a full service and strictly confidential constituency office in East Preston with the help of a dedicated and knowledgeable staff. The office is open Monday to Friday and Keith is available on Mondays and Fridays to meet with area residents.
