The Valley African Nova Scotian Development Association (VANSDA) invites you to participate in 'Bridging the Gap - The Road To Employment Equity' as we explore the barriers that impact racially marginalized people. Exclusion has broad reach and its evidence can be found all around us. With the cooperation of a number of stakeholders we are excited to host this important conference here in Nova Scotia. Our primary goal is assisting in the development of workable strategies for expansion of employment opportunities between employers, targeted groups, employment organizations and institutions that will result in bringing demand and supply sides of the labour market together. Conference topics will be designed to explore the gaps on several fronts seeking to determine a path forward that is both inclusive in its design but also in implementation. Our aim is to increase awareness of Nova Scotia’s growing diversity, it's impact upon business & to educate those attending on the issues affecting the economy related to culture, race, ethnicity or religion. We also hope to increase capacity within communities to address racism and discrimination as a barrier to employment. The event schedule and dynamic list of speakers and presenters will challenge all in attendance to seek out and develop answers to the hard questions. We need to Make the Road Shorter for all.
