Introducing ANSD: the premier crowdsourced platform for African Nova Scotian culture & content
ANSD (African Nova Scotian Directory) is a new crowdsourced media startup and app, offering user-submitted and curated news; listings for businesses and organizations; community announcements and events; classifieds; educational programming; editorial features, and much more – a growing catalogue of lifestyle and factual content offerings that is pioneering a wave of disruption across the province’s media landscape.
“This began as a personal passion project to elevate unheard voices in the African Nova Scotian community,” said Tyson Tolliver, founder of ANSD, “and the explosion of audience engagement on the ANSD platform from every sector across the province just goes to show there is an unmet demand for cultural and lifestyle content programming for the increasingly diverse digital media consumer.”
With hundreds of app downloads and new members joining the community since the company announced it's launch five weeks ago, ANSD is quickly becoming a comprehensive crowdsourced database of African Nova Scotian businesses, events, and cultural information.
For its expansion phase, Tolliver is working to accomplish the following three goals:
1. To improve access to information sharing throughout the African Nova Scotian community by creating a comprehensive database.
2. To provide a centralized platform for individuals, businesses, societies, organizations, and government groups to share communication initiatives that increase awareness of programs, services, and events serving the African Nova Scotian community.
3. To provide exclusive hyper-targeted advertising opportunities to community and diversity-oriented campaigns, brands, businesses, and employers seeking engagement with African Nova Scotian communities.
“This startup is bigger than me or any individual,” Tolliver added. “ANSD is a community media platform that strongly believes in diversity. The possibilities are endless in this exciting time of change in today’s media ecosystem. As the ANSD membership base grows and operations scale, I expect content and partnerships to evolve as well, in fact, I am committed to making sure that is exactly what happens.”
