DIGGSTOWN Returns for Season 2

Diggstown, the CBC legal drama created by lawyer and award-winning filmmaker Floyd Kane, is a smart, entertaining legal drama that shines a light on underrepresented issues through a creative lens.

Vinessa Antoine stars as Marcie Diggs, a former-big firm lawyer, now working in a Legal Aid office along with a passionate team that fights cases which tackle the sometimes gritty justice system. Diggstown balances provocative and poignant stories with light human touches, layering client cases, inter-office stories, and the personal issues disrupting the lawyers’ professional obligations.

Set and filmed in Halifax, this Canadian series provides a raw look at socioeconomic disparity amid aspects of the Canadian legal system that are rarely showcased in mainstream media, within an entertaining legal drama.

Season 2 premieres on March 4th (airing Wednesdays at 8pm ET/PT on CBC)

Diggstown follows Marcie Diggs (Vinessa Antoine), a star corporate lawyer who reconsiders her priorities after her beloved aunt commits suicide following a malicious prosecution. The team of lawyers that Marcie works with are a curious band of do-gooders, cynics and scrappers - messy souls struggling to keep personal disappointment and demons out of their practice. They work directly in the community to find justice for their diverse clients, exploring issues of racism, poverty and gender bias.
Diggstown balances provocative and poignant stories with light human touches. The brisk, three-part storytelling in each episode will layer client cases, inter-office stories and the personal issues disrupting our lawyers’ professional obligations. Although Diggstown is a legal drama, the emotional resolution of every episode isn’t always in the courtroom. With clients facing homelessness, unemployment, imprisonment, and worse, the stakes are high and deeply personal. Doing their own legwork, the lawyers untangle the facts to find the truth - ensuring that if justice isn’t blind, at least it's fair.
