On August 30, Halifax will come alive with a 3-day celebration of culture and diversity in our region. Starting with our premiere film festival on August 30th, celebrating the filmography of immigrants in the Maritimes and beyond.
Announcing the 2019 Mosaic Festival of Arts and Culture (August 30th, 31st and September 1st) – Call for Vendors
We are excited to announce that the 2019 Mosaic Festival of Arts and Culture is just 3 months away! Incorporating all the fun we had last August, we are hosting a vibrant parade of music and dance along with a waterfront party of concerts and vendors. Breaking the mould of past festivals, we are creating a unique celebration of our city’s diverse cultures.
We plan to hold the Mosaic Festival of Arts and Culture over a three-day period during the Labour Day long weekend - August 30th, 31st and September 1st.
This is a call for you to submit your business as a vendor in the Mosaic Festival.
Overview of the event:
August 30th: The 2019 Mosaic Festival of Arts and Culture kicks off with our premiere film festival. Taking place at the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, this film festival will be a forum for filmmakers from Atlantic Canada and beyond to share their experiences, their journeys and their cultural identities.
August 31st: On Saturday 8am-9pm, the festivities start with a parade along Lower Water Street that flows through to Salter Lot. This family-friendly event will feature music and dance from around the world.
September 1st: On Sunday, the festivities will start at 8 am and go until 9 pm and will be filled with live performances from people and cultural groups from around the world. Colourful cultural performances, vendors and exhibitors will join us on the Halifax waterfront for an entire day of fun!
How you can participate:
Our vendor area will be active on August 31st and September 1st - the second and third days of the festival.
Secure your booth on the Salter Lot by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org Please include the name of your business/organization and the goods you wish to have at your booth.
This opportunity is open to those wishing to sell food, crafts, art or any goods that promote and represent your culture. We will approve each application using these guidelines.
Fees will vary, and are negotiable, but they are primarily based on whether your booth will serve food or not.
Once you are approved and have submitted a fee, we will invite you to an information session closer to the event.
Our dream is to see this festival become one of Halifax’s essential summer events, and we are excited to see the festival evolve to a three day event - for our immigrants, newcomers and international students to have a familiar piece of home on the waterfront; and for the residents of Halifax to have the chance to discover, learn and immerse themselves in other cultures.
We hope you can celebrate with us on August 30th, 31st and September 1st over the long weekend! Spots are filling up fast so reserve soon. For more information, please visit our website: https://mosaicfestival.ca/
